Hope Counter
Hope Counter is a real-time data platform that shifts the narrative of the COVID-19 pandemic toward recovery and optimism. It celebrates each recovery as a beacon of hope, emphasizing the power of survivors to make a positive impact. Our challenge was to reframe the focus from rising infections to victories over the virus. Recognizing that recovered individuals' plasma is rich in antibodies, we promoted plasma donation as a lifeline for those still fighting COVID-19.

DATA
Our task began with the crucial step of identifying a reliable and enduring data source for COVID-19 recovery statistics. After extensive research, we chose Johns Hopkins University's API, specifically for news broadcasting. This choice ensured that our platform would have access to accurate and constantly updated information, essential for reflecting the pandemic's real-time nature and driving our initiative's message of hope.

DESIGN
In Figma, I created a responsive website with a user-centric design, emphasizing simplicity and ease of use. The interface was crafted to be intuitive and accessible on various devices, ensuring that the crucial message of the platform was readily available to a wide audience. This streamlined UX approach facilitated user engagement and comprehension.
GEOLOCALIZATION
We created a system where users select a blood donation organization (e.g., AABB or the COVID-19 Plasma Alliance). The website then requests location access and uses the Google Places API to display the nearest donation center on Google Maps, aligning with the user's choice and location. This integration streamlines the experience, facilitating easy access to donation centers and boosting participation in this vital cause.
DELIVERABLES
The Hope Counter platform consists of two key deliverables. The main page highlights the number of COVID-19 recoveries, encouraging survivors to donate plasma as a life-saving act. The secondary page lists plasma donation organizations, integrated with a geolocation feature to guide users to the nearest donation center. This streamlined approach effectively motivates survivors to contribute positively to the fight against the pandemic.
